Q: What are the videography and photography guidelines?
Bands will be given two media passes upon check in to the contest. The media persons will be permitted to the top row area of the spectator seating area to record their band’s performance, or at the field level, both for your performance only. No press box access is permitted. We will have professional photographers from TMC and FloMarching at the contest on the field and we respectfully ask that you yield to these individuals. No professional video will be provided from Texas Marching Classic.
Q: How is scoring calculated?
The scoring system uses a combination of judges scores for general effect, music performance, and visual performance.
General Effect: 60%
♦ Two General Effect Music Judges, judged from press box
♦ One General Effect Visual Judge, judged from press box
Each of the three judges has an available 20% and are SUMMED to make up 60% of the overall score
Music Performance: 20%
♦ Music Performance (individual), judged on field
♦ Music Performance (ensemble), judged from press box
Scores of these judges are AVERAGED and make up 20% of the overall score
Visual Performance: 20%
♦ Visual Performance (individual), judged on field
♦ Visual Performance (ensemble), judged from press box
Scores of these judges are AVERAGED and make up 20% of the overall score
Additionally we have a Percussion and a Color Guard judge, but their scores do not factor into the results of the contest. However, there are caption awards for each, and commentary provided as well.
Q: How do we get feedback from the judges?
Verbal evaluations are made available on Competition Suite soon after each performance. Scores for prelims and finals are not made public until after the contest concludes.
